About the Foundation:
Local Education Foundations connect community to classrooms to innovate learning, power potential, and celebrate success. We believe engaged and connected communities lead to teacher and student success. We know our schools can’t do it alone and our purpose is to foster the investment and involvement it takes for every student to realize their complete potential.
Mission Statement:
Our mission is to serve as the connection between our community and public education, evaluating needs and securing resources to enhance the quality of education.
Organizational Background:
In 1987, members of the business community identified the need to provide homework assistance for low-performing students. Partnering with the school district and the Lake County Education Foundation the founders formed a 501(c)(3) called Dial-A-Teacher. In 1988 the name was changed from Dial-A-Teacher to the Education Foundation of Lake County, Inc. We are a member of the Consortium of Florida Education Foundations.
