The Education Foundation of Lake County will not host the Lady of the Lakes Renaissance Faire for the 2026 season.
For decades, the Renaissance Faire has been a signature event and one of the most successful fundraisers for the Education Foundation, while also serving as a beloved community tradition. The event brought together families, artisans, performers, volunteers, and visitors from across the region and generated significant economic impact—nearly $5 million in 2025 and $4.8 million in 2024.
The Foundation expresses deep gratitude to its partners, including the Lake County Board of Commissioners, the City of Tavares, Lake County Schools, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, the numerous County departments, vendors, sponsors, and the many community members who contributed to the Faire’s success over the years.
The decision follows the loss of access to the current Tavares site, which has been essential to the event’s immersive setting and notable success. After careful consideration, the Board of Directors determined that moving forward with the 2026 Faire under uncertain conditions and no viable location could jeopardize funding for its core mission.
Despite this change, the Foundation remains strong and committed to supporting the public schools of Lake County. Efforts are already underway to develop new fundraising strategies, expand partnerships, and explore innovative ways to continue serving students and educators. The Foundation will be celebrating its 40th Anniversary in 2027.
Long-time supporters and patrons of the Lady of the Lakes Renaissance Faire are encouraged to honor their experiences and continue supporting the Foundation’s mission through donations. Help us raise a pint or a turkey leg by showing your support for Lake County Schools. You are encouraged to make a donation online or via mail (2045 Pruitt St, Leesburg, FL 34748) to the Education Foundation of Lake County. Your $20 for a ticket supports career & technical education programs across the district. Your $15 turkey leg fills a backpack of supplies for a student. Your $7 cup of meade contributes classroom tools for a teacher. Any amount of support will make a difference for Lake County Schools.
“The success of the Renaissance Faire was made possible by the passion and dedication of our vendors, volunteers, partners, and supporters,” shared Executive Director, Elizabeth Johnson. “We are incredibly grateful for the memories we’ve created together. The Education Foundation is proud to continue fulfilling its mission as the connection between the community and public education. We look forward to exploring opportunities for future events and initiatives.”
The Foundation will continue to collaborate with County leadership and community partners on future opportunities and will provide updates as plans develop for 2027 and beyond.
