The 12th Annual Stepping Out For Education dance competition hosted by the Educational Foundation of Lake County was a three night sold out event. During the event, Duke Energy awarded the foundation with 28,000 to the Unlocked grant fund.

“It’s an honor to be a part of the many programs and organizations that make our community such a vibrant place to live and work,” Duke Energy Foundation President.

UnlockED provides teachers the support, time and space to hone and execute big ideas in the best interest of their students. These grants give teachers the opportunity to go above and beyond for their student’s learning experience.

The 2017 Slate of Stars included Doug Childers (President/CEO LassiterWare), Gail Baker (LC President Reunion Bank of Florida), Nicole Brouhard (Assistant President Cypress Ridge Elementary), Leah Conner (Owner Leah D. Conner Interior Design), Tim Simpson (Owner Renew Day Spa), and Michael David Herrera (Executive Director Community Foundation of South Lake).

Nicole Brouhard was the overall Mirror Ball winner for both nights.
