Take Stock in Children of Lake and Sumter Counties received a generous donation of $2,000 from the United Methodist Women of Clermont. The money was raised at the United Methodist Women’s annual fashion show in March 2017 at the United Methodist Church in Clermont.
“The award of $2,000 will be combined with other donations and used to provide a two-year Florida Pre-Paid Scholarship to a student in our community,” Gail Weidner said, Program Manager of Take Stock in Children.
Take Stock in Children, a program of the Educational Foundation of Lake County, has assisted over 800 Lake and Sumter County students with tuition scholarships. The Mission of Take Stock in Children is to provide students and their families’ inspiration through mentoring, support and scholarships by empowering them to achieve their dreams of an education beyond high school. The services start in middle school, go through high school and include their college transition.
