Generous donors provided thermometers to Lake County Schools so the summer Extended Learning Centers could open. CDC guidelines require that each student get his or her temperature checked upon arrival at any of the nine Extended Learning Centers as a precaution to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
A fever is a common symptom of the virus and having thermometers on hand allow the Extended Learning Center staff to check students when they arrive and throughout the day, if needed.
With generous support from community members Barbara Wilson Smith and Scott Smith, the Education Foundation of Lake County purchased 30 thermometers for the Extended Learning Centers.
The thermometers can be used throughout the year on campus and at other school-related activities.
