In 2005 The Education Foundation of Lake County opened Apple-Mart, a store where teachers can shop for free! Each year new teachers in the district receive a shopping pass that allows them to shop once a month. Passes are also given to the principals to distribute among their teachers. Social workers are allowed anytime with no limit. The average value of each visit can be anywhere between $95-$150. The stores are run entirely by a group of volunteers and are stocked by donations from the community, local businesses, and churches. Find out how YOU can help Apple-mart by becoming a volunteer today! If you’re interested in helping one of our Apple-Mart locations, please complete this form and we will contact you shortly.

Thank You Apple-Mart Volunteers!
Our volunteers manage these stores every Wednesday afternoon for Lake County Schools teachers to be able to receive free school supplies. We couldn’t possibly have these stores without our volunteers! Additionally, we would like to thank our community and corporate/business partners for supporting our annual Red For Ed school supply drive held throughout July. This event has become a significant source of both good-natured competition as well as an opportunity for us to replenish our stores before the beginning of the school year.
